What to check before you buy
A service sells you the labour as well as the link: finding sites, negotiating and writing. You pay more per link than on a marketplace, and in return you should get vetting you can check.
- Ask to see and approve every site before the placement is made.
- Ask how sites are sourced. Outreach to real publishers and buying from a seller list are different products.
- Get the replacement policy in writing for links that are removed.
- Check that reporting shows the live URL, the anchor and the date for every link.
