How it works

Syften is a keyword alert tool for online communities. You write a filter, which is a search query with Boolean operators, and Syften alerts you when a new post or comment matches it. Alerts arrive by email, RSS or Slack, and higher plans add an API and webhooks. An AI filter removes spam and weak matches, and you can search an archive of past results.

The sources are what set it apart from news-led monitoring tools. Syften lists Reddit, X, Hacker News, Indie Hackers, GitHub, the Stack Exchange family, forums, Discourse, Bluesky, Mastodon, Slack communities, YouTube, Dev.to, Lobste.rs, podcasts, newsletters and public websites.

Speed is the main selling point. Syften states a delay of at most one minute for Reddit and at most 15 minutes for X, with a general target of under a minute for live content.

Why it matters for off-page SEO

Community threads are now a source for AI answers as well as for search results. Our lesson on Reddit for SEO and AI visibility explains why. A fast alert lets you answer a question about your product, or your topic, while the thread is still active.

Alerts on your brand name also surface unlinked mentions on forums and public websites that you can ask to turn into links. Brand mention monitoring sets out a full process and where a tool like this fits. Syften does not track AI answers themselves. For that you need one of the AI visibility tracking tools.

Pricing

Plan Price per month Community filters Daily results Web filters Daily web results Archive
Entry $29.95 3 100 1 5 7 days
Standard $49.95 20 200 5 20 1 month
Syften PRO $119.95 100 500 20 50 Unlimited

Prices are as shown on Syften’s site on 4 October 2026. Standard adds the Slack integration, AI filtering and API access. PRO adds webhooks. There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card.

Three filters on the Entry plan cover a brand name, one competitor and one topic, and little more. Most teams that use alerts for prospecting will need Standard.

What public reviews say

Syften has no Trustpilot profile: the page for its domain returned “not found” when we checked in October 2026. We did not open a rating for it on another review platform. Its own site carries testimonials from founders including the chief executives of Rewardful and RevenueCat and a co-founder of PostHog, which are vendor-selected.

The site gives a business address in Kraków, Poland, and says Syften has been operating since 2019.

Bottom line

Syften is a focused alert tool for community mentions, with Reddit alerts inside a minute by its own account and plans from $29.95 a month. It is not a full media monitoring suite, and the entry plan has no Slack, API or AI filtering.
