Apollo.io review

Apollo is a large B2B contact database with email sequences attached, and it has a free plan. It is built for sales teams, so it suits link builders who pitch companies and marketing staff more than those who pitch bloggers and journalists, and its Trustpilot score is a middling 3.1.

Best for

Link builders who target company websites and need named marketing or content contacts, plus sequences, in one tool.

Not for

Outreach to small publishers, bloggers and journalists, who are less likely to sit in a B2B sales database.

How it works

Apollo calls itself an AI system for go-to-market teams. At its centre is a database that Apollo puts at more than 240 million contacts and 30 million accounts, which it says is regularly updated. Around that sit tools to write and send outreach, follow up automatically and enrich records.

The home page lists deliverability features by name: domain warming, inbox rotation and reputation monitoring. It also lists a Chrome extension that shows verified emails and phone numbers while you work in other tools, and compliance support for GDPR and CAN-SPAM. The database size is Apollo’s own figure.

Apollo is not a link building tool. Its pages do not mention publisher metrics, link monitoring or tracking placements. What it can do for a link builder is put a name and an email against a company website, then send a sequence.

That is most useful when your targets are businesses: partner links, supplier and customer pages, unlinked mentions on company sites, or resource pages run by a marketing team. A sales database is a weaker fit for independent bloggers and journalists. For those, see building a media list and finding contacts and verifying emails.

Data quality deserves a check before you send. Some Trustpilot reviewers report wrong contact details, so verify addresses first. A tool such as Hunter.io includes a verifier.

Pricing

Plan Price What Apollo says it adds
Free $0 Light usage
Basic $49 per user a month, billed annually Unlimited sequences, CRM integrations
Professional $79 per user a month Workflow automation, AI research, dialer
Organization $119 per user a month, 3-user minimum International dialling, SSO, admin controls

We could not read the price table on Apollo’s pricing page on 4 October 2026. The page loaded with plan names and descriptions only. The figures above come from an article on Apollo’s own site, dated 17 September 2026, which quotes its pricing page. That article states the billing period for Basic only, so confirm the rest before you buy.

The same article explains that each plan carries a credit allowance, that credits do not roll over between billing cycles, and that a verified email costs up to one credit while a mobile number costs several.

What public reviews say

Apollo holds a Trustpilot score of 3.1 from 1,346 reviews, checked in October 2026, with 489 written in the last 12 months. Opinion is split: 46 percent give five stars and 36 percent give one. Complaints centre on slow support, inaccurate contact data, the cost of credits and account lockouts. Trustpilot shows Apollo replying to 6 percent of negative reviews. Positive reviews praise the size of the database.
