This review is based on Hunter’s public pages and third-party ratings, checked on 4 October 2026. The rating out of 10 is the editor’s own judgement. The focus is on link building outreach, not general sales prospecting.

How it works

Hunter describes itself as an all-in-one email outreach platform for finding verified decision makers. For a link builder the useful parts are three long-standing tools. Domain Search lists the email addresses Hunter knows for a website. Email Finder looks up one named person at a domain. Email Verifier checks whether an address is likely to accept mail before you send to it.

That fits the step in a campaign after link prospecting: you have a list of sites and need the right editor or site owner at each one. Our lesson on finding contacts and verifying emails explains why verification matters for your sender reputation.

Hunter also lists a Chrome extension, a Google Sheets add-on, an API and a lead database called Discover. The company states more than 7 million users and says it has operated since 2015. Those are its own figures.

Sequences for outreach

Hunter includes sequences, its name for automated cold email campaigns sent from your own mailbox. The limits are published: one connected email account and 500 recipients per sequence on the free plan, three accounts and 2,500 recipients on Starter, ten accounts and 5,000 on Growth, and twenty accounts and 15,000 on Scale. An AI writing assistant is listed from Starter.

This is enough for a pitch and a follow-up or two, as described in our guide to link outreach emails. It is not an outreach CRM. Hunter’s pages do not describe link monitoring, publisher metrics or a shared history of who pitched which site. Tools such as BuzzStream are built for that side of the work.

What public reviews say

Hunter holds a Trustpilot score of 4.2 from 346 reviews, checked in October 2026. Eighty-five percent of those reviews give five stars and 9 percent give one. Trustpilot shows that Hunter replied to all of its negative reviews. It also notes that the company has no recent history of asking for reviews. Complaints mention fees for an Inbox Protection add-on, friction when verifying a new account and occasional wrong addresses.
