How it works

PR Newswire is a press release wire owned by Cision US Inc. It says it has operated for more than 70 years. A company opens an account, submits a release, and PR Newswire’s editors check it and send it to newsrooms, news sites and databases. The site states a reach of more than 500,000 media outlets, newsrooms and influencers worldwide. That figure is its own.

Beyond distribution, it sells multichannel amplification and a platform called Amplify, with modules for planning, writing and reporting on a campaign. It runs regional sites for many countries and offers content in languages that include English, Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, Danish, Finnish, Polish and Swedish.

A wire is one part of digital PR. It delivers the announcement. Whether a journalist writes about it depends on the news.

Pricing

PR Newswire publishes no prices on the pages we read on 4 October 2026. The site offers an online account form, a demo request and a sales phone line. We therefore state no fee.

One Trustpilot reviewer reports being charged more than $6,200 for two releases after word count overages. That is one customer’s account, not a price list, but it shows what to ask. Get a written quote that states the word limit and the charge for going over it.

If you want the same national distribution at a published price, eReleases resells it per release, from $399 at regular prices when we checked.

Do not buy wire distribution for backlinks. Whichever wire you use, the copies of a release that appear on partner sites are syndicated duplicates. Our lesson on press releases for links explains why the working rule is to count those copies as zero links, and our page on syndicated links covers how search engines treat them.

One Trustpilot reviewer describes a report of 946 publications that were automated copies on aggregator sites. That is what wire pickup looks like, and it is why reports of hundreds of placements should not be read as hundreds of links. Our lesson on measuring digital PR explains what to count instead.

What public reviews say

PR Newswire’s Trustpilot profile showed a score of 2.0 from 11 reviews in October 2026. Ninety-one percent were one-star, and the profile is unclaimed. The complaints are about billing, invoices and the quality of pickup. Eleven reviews is a very small sample for a company of this size, and large corporate customers rarely leave Trustpilot reviews, so weigh it lightly.
