Moz review

Moz matters to link buyers because Domain Authority is the number many sellers quote. Link Explorer gives you DA, Spam Score and competitor link gaps from $49 a month, with a free account for 10 queries, though Ahrefs and Semrush state larger feature sets for prospecting.

Best for

Small teams that want to check DA and Spam Score on offered sites without paying for a larger suite.

Not for

Heavy link prospectors, who will hit the backlink query limits on the lower plans.

What is good

  • Domain Authority is the metric many link sellers quote, so you can check their claims at source
  • Spam Score gives a quick warning on weak sites
  • Free account with 10 Link Explorer queries a month
  • AI visibility tracking included in Standard, Medium and Large

What is not

  • Standard plan allows only one link tracking list of 100 links
  • No outreach tool in the suite
  • AI prompts are tracked weekly, not daily
  • Trustpilot 2.4 from 242 reviews as of October 2026

This review is based on Moz’s public pages and third-party ratings, checked on 3 October 2026. The rating out of 10 is the editor’s own judgement. The focus is on link building and off-page features, not the full suite.

Link Explorer is Moz’s backlink tool. Moz states that it covers more than 40 trillion links. For any URL it reports Domain Authority, Page Authority, Spam Score, inbound link and linking domain counts, anchor text, follow and nofollow counts, and recently discovered and lost linking domains.

Domain Authority is the reason Moz belongs in a link builder’s toolkit. Many publishers and resellers quote DA in their price lists, and services such as The HOTH define their tiers by DA or DR. Checking the number at source costs nothing: a free Moz account gives 10 Link Explorer queries a month.

DA is Moz’s own score, not a Google metric, and a high number does not prove that a site has readers. Pair it with a traffic check, as set out in how to vet a publisher.

Prospecting and monitoring

Link Explorer shows competitor backlinks you are missing, which gives you a basic prospect list. It also shows top content by links, a guide to what earns links in your topic.

For monitoring, Moz Pro has link tracking lists. The limits are tight on the lower plan:

Standard Medium Large
Backlink queries a month 5,000 20,000 70,000
Results per backlink query 10,000 40,000 50,000
Link tracking lists 1 30 60
Links per list 100 500 750

One list of 100 links will not cover an active campaign. Extra lists cost $25 a month per five, according to the pricing page. Our guide on how to track backlinks lists what a tracker should record.

Moz has no outreach tool. Pitchbox lists a Moz integration on every plan.

AI visibility

Moz Pro now includes AI and GEO features in its three main plans. Standard includes 3 AI visibility dashboards and 150 tracked prompts, Medium 6 and 300, Large 12 and 600. Tracking covers four models: GPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Perplexity. Prompts are tracked weekly. Extra prompts cost $50 per 100, and extra dashboards $20 each. The comparison table also lists AI sentiment analysis and AI citations data.

Pricing

Plan Monthly billing Annual billing, per month Users
Standard $99 $79 1
Medium $179 $143 2
Large $299 $239 3

Prices are as shown on the Moz Pro pricing page on 3 October 2026. Moz also mentions an entry-level plan at $49 a month for individuals managing a single website, an Enterprise option on request, and a free trial. A promotional discount was running on the day we checked, so list prices are quoted here.

What public reviews say

Moz holds a Trustpilot score of 2.4 from 242 reviews, checked in October 2026. As with other software suites, Trustpilot reviews lean towards billing issues and say little about data quality.

Moz matters to link buyers because Domain Authority is the number many sellers quote. Link Explorer gives you DA, Spam Score and competitor link gaps from $49 a month, with a free account for 10 queries, though Ahrefs and Semrush state larger feature sets for prospecting.
